Launch to College Student Workshop​: Tips and Tricks for a Smooth Transition

What do you mean I have to read all of this? Whether it be an ivy league university or a trade school, students entering the next phase of education can feel unprepared with the rigor and expectations that is required in post-secondary schooling. This interactive and engaging five hour workshop will offer five strategies based on research, student testimonials and instructor experiences that have the power to change the trajectory of a student’s ability to find success. Implementing these strategies offers a simple yet profound effect on areas of time management, self-advocacy, knowledge acquisition and yes, GPA. This workshop is a fit for any high school (9-12) or current college student searching for strategies to support success.

INDIVIDUAL STUDENT SUPPORT

Option 1: College Launch Session

This one hour long meeting takes place as a support to transitioning to post-secondary education. The meeting focus is on assisting with implementation of strategies that are known to support success. Various strategies will be offered to create a student centered success plan that can be implemented with ease. Follow up appointments are offered upon request.

Option 2: Reoccurring Academic Coaching Sessions

​

Academic coaching is offered weekly, bi-weekly or monthly to assist students with task completion relating to time management, study strategies, self-advocacy and understanding oneself as a learner. A relationship is built between the student and coach to create a collaborative approach so that skills and strategies can be identified that work best for the learner. Feedback from the student will drive the recurring sessions, allowing for adaptations of strategies, when necessary, to promote continuous growth. Student achievement will be monitored and assessed through short and long-term goal setting.
